War of Words Turns Spelling Into Combat — Connect Letters to Charge Your Attacks

Scrabble tiles, but they hit back. War of Words, a released Android game from solo developer GottaPlay, is a word-combat hybrid: “Link letters, power your abilities and battle through a fantasy word adventure.”

Words Are Your Weapons Economy

The loop connects adjacent letters on a grid to charge attack, shield and healing abilities — then you decide when to spend them against a 24-encounter offline campaign of fantasy foes. Equipment, Endless and Daily modes and six dictionaries round out the package, and the monetization is refreshingly clean: free download, no in-app purchases, optional rewarded ads only for Endless continues. The studio discloses that art, music, text and code are AI-generated.

Out Now on Android

War of Words is live now on Google Play, with an itch.io page as well. For word-game players who always wanted their vocabulary to do damage, this is the pitch, delivered.

War of Words reached us through GamerMenu’s indie submissions program — selected as the stronger of this studio’s two submissions on the strength of its combat loop.
