A Brighter, Longer-Lasting Screen
The headline upgrade is the OLED display: 7.4 inches, 90Hz, with perfect blacks and vivid colors. It transforms the handheld experience, especially in darker games like Dead Cells or Hollow Knight. Battery life also improves significantly — roughly 3-8 hours depending on the game.
Performance: Same Chip, Better Experience
The APU is largely unchanged, but the efficiency gains from the OLED panel and a larger battery mean you get more playtime per charge. The 6nm refresh of the chip offers marginally better thermals, and the 1TB storage option is welcome.
What Else Is New
The Steam Deck OLED also brings a lighter design, improved haptics, a quieter cooling fan, and Wi-Fi 6E. The hall-effect joysticks eliminate drift concerns. Every change is a meaningful quality-of-life improvement.
