Arrowhead Game Studios has deployed a substantial Helldivers 2 patch, adding two new Stratagems, rebalancing several weapons, and addressing community-reported bugs. The update arrives as Helldivers 2 continues to dominate the co-op shooter landscape with over 12 million copies sold.
New Stratagems
Two new Stratagems join the arsenal:
- Orbital Precision Laser MK2: An upgraded version of the Orbital Precision Laser that tracks targets for 8 seconds (up from 5). Damage per second increased by 20%. Available at level 18, costs 8,000 Requisition Slips.
- AX/LAS-16 Guard Dog Rover: A modified Guard Dog that deploys as a rover instead of a backpack drone. It patrols a 15-meter radius around the user, targeting medium enemies first. Cooldown: 480 seconds.
Weapon Balance Changes
Arrowhead continues its iterative balancing approach:
- SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary: Damage over time effect increased by 15% — the community’s favorite shotgun gets a small buff
- R-36 Eruptor: Reload speed increased from 3.8s to 3.2s, making it more viable against bot factions
- FAF-14 Spear: Lock-on time reduced by 25% — a much-needed quality-of-life improvement for the anti-tank launcher
- ARC-12 Quasar: Charge time reduced from 5s to 4s — the energy weapon meta shifts again
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a crash that occurred when calling Eagle Airstrike on maps with dense foliage
- Resolved an issue where players could fall through the map on Malevelon Creek
- Fixed the “Disconnected from server” error that occurred after Extract mission completion
- Corrected the Super Citizen medal count display on the HUD
- Fixed a visual bug where the DP-223 Liberator’s magazine appeared empty after swapping weapons
Anti-Cheat Update
Arrowhead has implemented additional anti-cheat measures targeting the recent wave of AFK farming and XP glitch exploits. Players caught using macros or third-party tools for automated farming will receive permanent bans.
The patch is live on Steam. Helldivers 2’s next major content update is expected in September.
