Final Fantasy VII Revelation finally has a release date. During PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast on September 3, Square Enix confirmed that the finale of the Remake trilogy launches April 8, 2027 — and it’s arriving on every major platform at once.
April 8, 2027 — On Every Platform
Revelation lands simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC. It’s a notably wide launch for a trilogy that began as a PlayStation exclusive, and it means Switch 2 owners won’t miss the ending. Physical and digital pre-orders are live now, though digital Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders open at a later date.
New Footage Shows a World Without Boundaries
Alongside the date, Square Enix released a new trailer and an extended gameplay deep dive. The footage reveals Revelation opening up into a truly open planet, explored freely aboard the iconic Highwind airship. Chocobo companion Piko grows alongside the party, learning new traversal and combat abilities throughout the journey.
Combat is evolving too. Cid and Vincent join the playable roster, and the new FITS system grants specialized roles — Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner — that unlock new abilities and greater heights of power. Players can freely swap their controlled character and party makeup at any time while exploring, zip through the environment with a new grappling gun, and shape how certain events unfold by choosing which party members take on particular quests.
