One day after celebrating The Legend of Zelda’s 40th birthday, Nintendo returned on September 9 with a traditional Direct packed with Switch 2 announcements stretching all the way to spring 2027. From a new 2D Metroid to an open-world Kirby, here’s everything that mattered.

Metroid Ravenous — January 28

The headline reveal: Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D entry that appears to follow up Metroid Dread, launches on Switch 2 on January 28, 2027. New amiibo figures and a Special Edition will be available at launch.

Kirby Goes Open-World

Kirby and the World Beyond is a new 3D open-world adventure built around Kirby’s copy ability, arriving in spring 2027 as the series celebrates its 35th anniversary.

Monster Hunter Wilds Lands on Switch 2 December 4

Monster Hunter Wilds comes to Switch 2 on December 4, with the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion following in 2027 alongside its previously announced versions.

Star Fox‘s free September 29 update adds local splitscreen multiplayer to Battle Mode, three new stages and 4-player online play on a single console, while Star Fox Adventures joined the GameCube Classics library for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.
