World of Warcraft: Forever might be about to get classes that no version of the MMO has ever had — if a leaked Blizzard survey is accurate. Over the past few days, a select few users of the Battle.net launcher spotted an opt-in survey about new classes for the upcoming MMO. Blizzard asked participants not to share it, but screenshots and extracted descriptions have leaked online anyway, and YouTubers such as Belluar have covered the contents.
The 11 Classes
Multiple players have confirmed the same list: Bard, Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Illusionist, Monk, Necromancer, Metalborn/Runemaster/Runeknight, San’layn, Tinker, Warden, and Witch.
Some would be spins on established classes — the survey reportedly says the Demon Hunter would start at level one rather than level eight, be far slower and less mobile than its Legion counterpart, and belong to a faction separate from Illidan’s demon hunters. But others would be entirely new to the MMO: a Tinker that climbs into a mech and effectively has two lives, the machine and the pilot within (a bit like D.Va in Overwatch); a Bard performing songs to heal and buff allies; a plate-armored San’layn — essentially a vampiric knight — that sucks the vitality from foes; a Witch with a cauldron that buffs allies and a “Voidbolt” that drains the caster’s own life; a Metalborn that transmutes its body into metal; and an Illusionist that conjures illusory murlocs to fight for it.
What It Would Mean for Forever
None of this is officially verified — Blizzard hasn’t confirmed the survey, and the outlets covering it can’t independently verify the leaked details. But as Eurogamer notes, it would mark a major new avenue for expanding the Classic-era setting without venturing back into expansions like The Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King. Kotaku adds that several of the proposed classes are listed as support — a role that doesn’t really exist in WoW Classic — which could make Forever a testing ground for new group compositions. Some players are already worried new classes could arrive overpowered and ruin the throwback experience, while others just want Blizzard to finally add the Bard.
World of Warcraft: Forever, whose full release arrives November 4, is Blizzard’s “another timeline” version of the MMO — the realization of the long-running Classic+ rumors. Early impressions of the beta’s 1-20 levelling journey have been glowing, and Blizzard has repeatedly raised the server cap as beta popularity grows.
