Kena’s next adventure needs more time. Ember Lab has confirmed that Kena: Scars of Kosmora — the sequel to 2021’s acclaimed Kena: Bridge of Spirits — has officially slipped from its 2026 release window into 2027, breaking the news in its first proper update since February’s announcement trailer.
“Since our announcement trailer in February, we’ve been heads down bringing Kena: Scars of Kosmora to the finish line,” the team wrote on the PlayStation Blog. “At the same time, we want to deliver a top-notch game that exceeds the quality we achieved with our 2021 debut, Bridge of Spirits, and at a much bigger scale. To do that we need just a bit more time. Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver.”
A Bigger, Deeper Adventure
Like Bridge of Spirits, Scars of Kosmora is a character-focused linear adventure — but with a broader and deeper scope. The story sends Kena to the mysterious island of Kosmora at the invitation of her childhood friend Orfio, where she hopes to learn more about her own past and future as a Spirit Guide — equal parts warrior and spiritual healer, fighting back the Corruption that manifests when the dead can’t move on peacefully.
Kosmora’s four interconnected cultures were each guided by one of the four elements, until a mysterious cataclysm destroyed one of them — and the island’s Alchemystic Temples are a big part of the game: dungeon experiences that will challenge players’ skills and pay off with transformative rewards. Kena also has a new way of getting around the larger world: a crystalline canine companion that serves as a mount, aids her in combat both mounted and on foot, and helps solve the island’s Alchemystic puzzles.
Release Plans
The delay will surprise no one: the February reveal came alongside a 2026 release year, and the long silence since led many to wonder — as KitGuru notes. Kena: Scars of Kosmora is now set for release in 2027 on PS5 — both physically and digitally — and PC, with wishlists open in the meantime.
