Black Myth: Zhong Kui Announced — Game Science’s Next Mythological Epic

Game Science, the studio behind the phenomenal Black Myth: Wukong, has unveiled its next project: Black Myth: Zhong Kui. The announcement came as the grand finale of Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live, and it’s already generating massive buzz.

Who Is Zhong Kui?

Zhong Kui is a legendary figure from Chinese mythology — a demon hunter so powerful he can command 80,000 demons. Known as the “Ghost Catcher,” he’s been a staple of Chinese folklore for centuries, and Game Science appears ready to give him the same blockbuster treatment they gave the Monkey King.

What We Saw

The reveal trailer showcased a dark, atmospheric world filled with supernatural threats. The standout moment? Zhong Kui appears to have a massive tiger companion — because why fight demons alone when you can bring a giant tiger?

No Release Date Yet

Game Science was clear that the project is in very early development. No release window was provided, but given the studio’s track record with Wukong (which sold over 20 million copies), expectations are sky-high.

Black Myth: Wukong raised the bar for Chinese game development. If Zhong Kui follows suit, we’re looking at another genre-defining action RPG that could rival anything from FromSoftware or Capcom.
