From Shadows to Spotlight
Cinder City has been in development for years under the codename Project LLL. The rebrand and public reveal at Gamescom suggests NCSoft is confident the game is ready for the spotlight. The gameplay trailer showed fast-paced shooting, vehicle combat, and a desolate but beautiful world.
MMO Meets Tactical Shooter
The “MMO tactical shooter” label is an unusual one. NCSoft is clearly trying to blend the persistence and scale of an MMO with the moment-to-moment intensity of a tactical shooter. Whether they can pull off that balancing act remains to be seen, but the ambition is undeniable.

Cinder City is coming to PC and consoles in 2026. No specific date yet, but NCSoft typically supports their MMOs with long-term content roadmaps, so expect this to be a live-service game with regular updates if it succeeds.
