Nintendo has announced an Expansion Pass for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, revealed with a new trailer — and the first wave is already live. The pass costs $34.99 on its own, or $104.99 bundled with the base game, and will roll out across three waves running through 2027.

The DLC news comes just weeks after the Switch 2 exclusive’s September 17 launch — a launch we called Intelligent Systems’ massive, worthwhile epic in our review — and signals a long content tail for one of Nintendo’s biggest strategy games of the year. The reveal came via a new trailer showing all three waves at once, posted alongside the announcement, and covering everything from today’s weapons drop through the 2027 story expansion. Notably, the game’s ESRB rating had already flagged “in-game purchases” before this announcement.

Wave 1 — Out Now: The Four Weapons

The first wave, available today, is the “Four Weapons” DLC. It adds four prototype weapons modelled after the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses: a replica of Byleth’s Sword of the Creator, Dimitri’s Areadbhar (Prototype VII), Claude’s Failnaught (Prototype XI), and what appears to be Freikugel (Prototype V). It’s a crossover nod Three Houses fans will recognize instantly — fitting, given Fortune’s Weave is widely seen as the spiritual successor to that game’s lord-driven storytelling.

For players already deep in a campaign, the new gear is a welcome way to mix up the variety of subsequent runs through each lord’s story — though on its own, it’s the smallest of the three drops.

Wave 2 — Holiday 2026: New Outfits and Godly Aid

The second wave lands in Holiday 2026 with the “New Outfits and Godly Aid” DLC. It brings new outfits for the game’s central lords Cai, Dietrich, Leda and Theodora — each costume also changing the wearer’s hairstyle — and the outfits can be worn by allies too, letting players restyle their whole roster. The “Godly Aid” part adds three new allies to recruit: Aurora, Jurah and Smyrnos, expanding the support roster ahead of the story-heavy final wave.

Wave 3 — 2027: The Rival Lords

The third and biggest wave arrives in 2027, adding new stories built around the game’s four rival lords — Anatolia, Bertrand, Orchel and Talimun — along with new allies and classes. It’s the wave that promises to expand Fortune’s Weave’s branching, lord-focused narrative most substantially, giving the game’s rival characters the playable spotlight fans have been asking for.

What It Means for Players

A three-wave season pass priced at $34.99 — a hefty chunk of a typical full-game price — is a big bet on the game’s legs, and on players wanting to replay each lord’s story with new weapons, outfits and allies in tow. That replay loop is the whole design: Fortune’s Weave’s branching structure means each lord’s campaign plays differently, and the new weapons and outfits likely aren’t enough on their own to pull lapsed players back — but they are welcome additions for mixing up the variety of subsequent runs, as TheGamer put it.

For newcomers, the $104.99 bundle is now the all-in option, covering the base game plus all three waves; for everyone else, Wave 1 is a cheap reason to fire the game back up today, with the promise of new allies by the holidays and the rival lords’ stories next year.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is out now exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, and the Expansion Pass is available via the game’s store page and Nintendo eShop.
