One day after celebrating The Legend of Zelda’s 40th birthday, Nintendo returned on September 9 with a traditional Direct packed with Switch 2 announcements stretching all the way to spring 2027. From a new 2D Metroid to an open-world Kirby, here’s everything that mattered.
Metroid Ravenous — January 28
The headline reveal: Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D entry that appears to follow up Metroid Dread, launches on Switch 2 on January 28, 2027. New amiibo figures and a Special Edition will be available at launch.
Kirby Goes Open-World
Kirby and the World Beyond is a new 3D open-world adventure built around Kirby’s copy ability, arriving in spring 2027 as the series celebrates its 35th anniversary.
