Crimson Desert’s first expansion is nearly here. Pearl Abyss has released a new six-minute Features Overview trailer for Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown, and it confirms the DLC’s launch date: October 29, 2026 at 3PM PT / 6PM ET on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), priced at $24.99. Pre-orders are live now on PS5, Xbox, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, and everyone who pre-orders gets the Charter’s Diving Set and Charter’s Light Diving Set in-game bonuses.

The expansion was originally announced in early September before a slight delay — it lands seven months after the base game’s March 19 release. This time, Pearl Abyss is sending players out to sea.

The Great Ocean of Pywel

The headline addition is a new explorable region — the Great Ocean of Pywel — with its own storyline. Players unlock shipbuilding: gather resources to construct your own vessel, customize it — stern, bow, and hull — and even equip cannons for naval combat against threats like ghostly ships, then set sail across the Great Ocean to explore its distinct islands, defeat enemy forces, and establish new strongholds alongside your Greymane comrades.

Beneath the surface there’s full underwater exploration: new diving traversal lets you sink below the waves to uncover sunken ruins, treasure, and resources — and the A.T.A.G. can be turned into a pseudo-submarine for deep-sea trips.

A Life in Pywel: Marriage, Castles, and Businesses

Charting the Unknown also doubles down on the life-sim side of Crimson Desert. By earning the trust of certain characters, players can develop romantic relationships and eventually get married — and close companions may drop by the Greymane Camp to spend time together. Housing has been significantly expanded beyond interior decoration: you can now design your residence’s structure from the ground up, placing walls, windows, and other structural elements, and once certain castles have been liberated you can claim them and decorate their interiors.

On the management side, players can lease facilities across Pywel, assign comrades and equipment, choose which goods to sell, and grow each business’s recognition and profits — liberated strongholds can be turned into legitimate businesses or seaports, whether that’s a restaurant, a tailor, or something else entirely.

Stories and a Boss Rush

The DLC continues the stories of main characters Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka as each sets out to forge their own path, encountering allies and threats both old and new. And for seasoned fighters, Charting the Unknown introduces a boss rush: face a series of powerful bosses from across Pywel, one after another, with worthwhile rewards — and some really tough customers waiting. “Hope you’re well-versed in facing the Antumbra Order,” GamingBolt warns.
