Edward Kenway’s farewell tour comes with a first. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s Title Update 1.0.8 went live October 27 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S — the remake’s final major content update — and it delivers the one thing the 2013 original never had: New Game Plus.

New Game Plus, With Teeth

Ubisoft started working on NG+ back in July, right after Resynced launched, and it lets players restart Edward Kenway’s campaign keeping almost everything: unlocked weapons, outfits, the Jackdaw’s upgrades and pets, and the Kenway fleet. Quest items, recruited officers, and captured forts reset. Rather than making replays easier, each subsequent NG+ run gets harder — Elite Soldiers appear more often and max-rank ships patrol the seas, with the difficulty stacking all the way up to New Game+++++ (five runs). A new NG+ currency called Escudos, earned from challenges and from re-opening chests you already looted, unlocks outfits and items you can’t get in a first playthrough.

Nightmare Mode

Players who want to suffer can flip on the new Nightmare difficulty: enemies deal 1.8x damage, parry windows are tighter, and the one-shot-kill safety net is switched off. Stealth gets meaner too — enemies detect you faster and hear anything quicker than a walk. You can apply it to the entire game or only to specific pillars like ground combat, stealth, or ship combat.

The Rest of the Patch

1.0.8 also restores takedown animations from the 2013 original that didn’t make the remake’s launch — hidden blade, unarmed, single sword, and gunblade takedowns — alongside new cosmetics and new community chests hidden around the world without any hints. The download weighs 15.5GB on Xbox Series X|S, 4.5GB on PS5, and 2.1–4.3GB on PC.

The end of major support comes less than four months after Resynced’s July 9 launch — a game that beat Ubisoft’s full-year sales target within two weeks — though smaller quality-of-life patches will continue over the coming months, and Eurogamer reports a Switch 2 version is seemingly on the way, expected to include everything released so far.
