Cartoon Crime Is Two Devs and Nine Updates Into a Cartoon Crime Sandbox on Steam

Cartoon Crime, a colorful open-world action sandbox from two-person studio BuBa Games, has been quietly stacking updates since its Steam Early Access launch on August 26 — nine of them so far, most recently adding steam trains, zombies and hidden laboratories.

The game’s calling card is instant camera switching between third-person and top-down perspectives, letting you jump from street-level police chases to a tactical view of the sandbox at will. Around that sits a proper crime-sandbox toolkit: open-world chases, bodyguards to hire, and online co-op for causing chaos with friends.

For Early Access buyers, the update pace is the point: two developers shipping nine updates in roughly two months is the profile of a project being actively built out rather than parked. The newest additions lean into the cartoon side of the fantasy rather than playing it straight.

Cartoon Crime is available now on Steam Early Access for PC.
