Ghosthold, a single-player pixel-art kingdom builder from developer MiszterSoul, is built around a single bleak rule: life is currency. You spend soul fragments to awaken lost souls and grow a settlement around a central fire — and every soul you spend is one you no longer hold to survive the night.
That tension between investment and survival is the core loop: expand the hold, wake more of the lost, and keep enough in reserve that the dark hours don’t end everything. The side-scrolling strategy view frames it all in detailed pixel art.
The project is still in development for Windows and Linux, but it now has public eyes on it: a first gameplay video shows the world, buildings and battles, and a new 15-second teaser compresses the mood into a single loop. An itch.io page is already live for anyone who wants to follow along.
