Black Myth: Wukong has shattered expectations by selling over 20 million copies within its first month of release. The Soulslike action RPG, based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, has become a cultural phenomenon and a milestone for the Chinese gaming industry.
Record-Breaking Launch
Launched on August 20, 2025, the game reached 10 million sales within just three days. By the one-month mark, that figure had doubled to 20 million across PC and PlayStation 5.
The game concurrent player count on Steam peaked at over 2.4 million, making it one of the most-played single-player games in the platform history.
What Next
Game Science has confirmed that the first DLC is in development. Additional updates addressing performance issues on PC and adding new game plus content are rolling out regularly.
The studio is also exploring an Xbox Series X|S release, though no date has been confirmed.
