Rockstar Games has officially pushed Grand Theft Auto VI to Fall 2026, citing the need for additional polish.
The most anticipated game of the decade has been delayed. Rockstar Games confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will no longer meet its original 2025 release window, instead targeting Fall 2026.
Why the Delay?
Rockstar stated that the extra time will be used to deliver the level of polish and attention to detail that fans expect. The development team is reportedly focusing on expanding the open world of Leonida, refining the dual-protagonist system with Lucia and Jason, enhancing the online multiplayer component, and optimizing for current-gen consoles and PC.
Trailer 2 Coming Soon
Rockstar also teased that a second trailer will drop in the coming weeks, showcasing more gameplay and the vibrant Vice City setting. The first trailer, released in December 2023, amassed over 200 million views in its first 24 hours.
