Kobayakawa-san Is a Soulslike: BIG Turns Your Date Into a Boss Fight — Free 15-Minute Game Out Now

Kobayakawa-san Is a Soulslike: BIG key art — a smiling pink-haired schoolgirl in a sailor uniform stands in a warm-lit classroom beneath the game's title and the tagline 'The girl I like got really big.' in Hokuto's free 15-minute dating adventure where the date becomes a Soulslike boss fight

The strangest genre mashup of the week: a dating sim where confessing to your crush is a Soulslike boss fight. Kobayakawa-san Is a Soulslike: BIG, a free 15-minute adventure from developer Hokuto, released October 8 on itch.io — playable straight in your browser, with a Windows download available too.

Analyze the Conversation, Break Her STAGGER

The premise is exactly what the title promises: the girl you like has grown gigantic, and the date that follows plays out as a boss encounter. You analyze the conversation, connect what Kobayakawa-san wants with what you want through the game’s DUAL-LINK SYSTEM, and break her STAGGER — then land the OVERDRIVE IMPACT using Light Attack, Heavy Attack, Parry and Roll. It’s a comedy-romance reading of Souls mechanics: stagger meters, parry timing and light/heavy attack rhythm, wrapped around a 15-minute story about talking to someone far bigger than you.

The game is playable in both Japanese and English — fitting, for a visual novel that treats dialogue choices like boss-phase telegraphs.

Free, Browser-Playable, Out Now

The whole thing is free on itch.io, where the key art’s tagline — “The girl I like got really big.” — sets the tone before you press start. An official trailer is up on YouTube, and the developer ships a press kit alongside the browser build.

Kobayakawa-san Is a Soulslike: BIG reached us through GamerMenu’s indie submissions program — small teams submit their games for honest coverage, and this one earned its slot on concept alone.
