Warner Bros. Games surprised everyone at Gamescom 2025 with the announcement of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a new LEGO Batman adventure coming in 2026.
The Dark Knight in Bricks
The LEGO Batman franchise has been dormant since LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham in 2014. A decade later, the brick-built Caped Crusader is returning — and the “Legacy of the Dark Knight” subtitle suggests a story that spans multiple eras of Batman’s career, possibly incorporating elements from the entire Dark Knight mythos.
What to Expect
No gameplay footage was shown, but if the previous LEGO Batman games are any indication, expect a blend of action, puzzle-solving, collectible hunting, and the trademark LEGO humor. The LEGO games have always been family-friendly, and there’s no reason to expect this one will be different.
A Welcome Return
LEGO games have a unique charm that’s been missing from the gaming landscape. With LEGO Horizon Adventures underperforming last year, Warner Bros. will be hoping that a return to Batman — the franchise that started the LEGO video game phenomenon — will be a safe bet.
