Italian studio Jyamma Games took the Gamescom stage to reveal La Divina Commedia, a third-person action-adventure game inspired by Dante Alighieri’s epic poem. Because apparently, 14th-century Italian literature was just waiting to become a video game.
Through Hell with a Sword
The reveal trailer showed the player wielding powerful swords against massive bosses in what appears to be a interpretation of Dante’s descent through the circles of Hell. The art direction is striking — gothic architecture, demonic enemies, and an atmosphere that’s equal parts beautiful and horrifying.
Not the First Try
This isn’t the first time Dante’s work has been adapted into a game — EA’s Dante’s Inferno took a similar approach back in 2010. But Jyamma Games appears to be taking a more faithful approach to the source material, focusing on the literary and philosophical elements rather than just using the setting as a backdrop for violence.
Release Window
No firm release date yet — the trailer ended with “coming soon.” But the footage shown was clearly running on current-gen hardware and looked polished. This could be one of 2026’s surprise hits.
