Spirestorm Sends You Sword-Bouncing Up a 25,400-Metre Monster Tower — Browser Demo Live, Steam Wishlists Open

Spirestorm key art — an armored knight with a flaming sword leaps toward gothic towers under a lightning-filled stormy sky in NextGenRunGames' arcade-action roguelite, whose free browser demo is live with Steam wishlists open ahead of a planned March 2027 launch

Spirestorm’s loop is easy to picture and hard to survive: launch into a tower of monsters, dive, strike with your sword, and rebound skyward — while rising fire eats the height beneath you. NextGenRunGames’ single-player arcade-action roguelite has a free browser demo playable now, with the Steam page open for wishlists ahead of a planned March 31, 2027 launch.

Climb, Bank, Repeat

The tower is enormous: ten realms threaded through a connected 25,400-metre spire. Your sword is the movement system — dive into enemies to rebound upward, steer midair, brake into a slow fall, and keep climbing before the fire catches you. Skills expand the vocabulary: Ember Nova parries projectiles, Aegis counters blows, and Skybreaker regains height with lightning.

The roguelite tension lives in the bells. At return bells you choose: bank your gold, or carry it higher for bigger rewards. Fall, and unbanked treasure is lost — earned experience remains. Banked gold funds 30 forge upgrades and 45 talents across the Ember, Iron and Gale trees, with earned basecamps marking your progress through 40 levels, 30 enemy types, ten guardians and minibosses.

Full Disclosure, AI Included

One point the studio states on the store page itself: Spirestorm uses pre-generated AI-assisted artwork for its characters, enemies, environments, interface illustrations and promotional images. The assets were selected, edited, animated and integrated during development, and no AI content is generated during gameplay. As AI-assisted art spreads through small-team development, that level of upfront disclosure is the honest approach — and it’s why we’re stating it plainly here, too.

Spirestorm came to us through GamerMenu’s indie submissions program. The browser demo is free to try now; wishlists are open on Steam while the tower waits for its March 2027 climbers.
