Bloober Team — the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake — showed off their newest horror project Cronos: The New Dawn at Gamescom 2025, and it’s coming September 5.
Cats Before Terror
The trailer was a masterclass in misdirection. It opened with cuddly cats lounging in a cozy apartment, lulling viewers into a false sense of security. Then the monsters came — spiny creatures, things with far too many hands, things with explodey bits. It got terrifying very fast. Luckily, the cat seems to have survived.
Time Mechanics
True to its name, Cronos appears to involve time manipulation. The “New Dawn” subtitle suggests themes of rebirth or temporal repetition, which could make for some genuinely unsettling horror scenarios — imagine reliving a nightmare over and over.
Bloober’s Hot Streak
Bloober Team has been on a roll. The Silent Hill 2 remake was a critical and commercial success, proving the studio can handle beloved IPs with respect. Cronos: The New Dawn is an original IP, giving them creative freedom to craft something entirely new.
